A man was in critical condition Sunday evening following a violent head-on collision in Longue-Rive, on the North Shore.

The accident occurred on Route 138 at around 7 p.m. when, for a reason that remained to be determined, a sport utility vehicle deviated from its lane to find itself in front of a van, explained Marythé Bolduc, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The driver of the SUV, a man in his 50s, sustained serious injuries that raised fears for his life.
The man behind the wheel of the van, meanwhile, was seriously injured, but his life was not in danger.
An investigation was opened by the SQ to shed light on the circumstances that led to this accident.
