A man in his fifties was arrested on Saturday in Albias, near Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), France Bleu Occitanie indicates Monday, December 27 at the Montauban prosecutor’s office. He is suspected of having killed and beheaded a 31-year-old man, whose body was discovered by chance by a walker on Friday on the edge of a departmental road in Albias.

The suspect is still in custody on Monday. He must be referred during the day and placed in pre-trial detention, according to France Bleu. The fifty-year-old was in a shared apartment with the victim. The deputy prosecutor of Montauban must communicate more information at the end of the day.

The man whose body was found decapitated was known to the police for traffic offenses and theft. He was stabbed several times in the chest and back. His two forearms had been found close to the body, and his head, in a plastic bag, a hundred yards away. The date of his autopsy must also be set this Monday. The analyzes should confirm the hypothesis of post-mortem mutilation of the body.

A judicial inquiry has been opened and a request for a psychiatric expertise should follow. The criminal investigation is entrusted to the gendarmes of the Montauban research brigade as well as to the Toulouse research section.
