(London) Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime obtained the Arthur Ashe humanitarian distinction from the ATP on Friday.
Auger-Aliassime was honored, among other things, for his efforts to promote education initiatives in his father’s native country, Togo.
The ATP also highlighted that this year, Auger-Aliassime became the spokesperson for the major Big Thinking campaign of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation.
In September, he visited patients, families and teams at the children’s hospital.
“Philanthropy has always been part of my life,” Auger-Aliassime said in a publication on the foundation’s website on September 15. My parents taught me early on the importance of giving back. Having been born in Sainte-Justine, I am honored to return there […] to meet families and, I hope, brighten their day a little. »
The 23-year-old tennis player occupies 29e level of men’s tennis.
Jannik Sinner received the Most Improved Player honor after capturing four titles in 2023.
Sinner also helped Italy win the Davis Cup for the first time since 1976.
He finished the year ranked fourth in the ATP, a career high.
Jan-Lennard Struff was named the Most Impressive Comeback Player.
Starting the year outside top 150he concluded it in 25e place at ATP.
19-year-old Frenchman Arthur Fils was declared the Newcomer of the Year.
Starting the year off top 250he was crowned in Lyon in May, moving towards the 36e place in the rankings in October.
World number 2, 20-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz obtained the Stefan Edberg sportsmanship distinction.
