Only the ground floor remains of this house in Saint-Victor (Dordogne). In the early afternoon of Thursday, the owner of the house lit leaves that he wanted to get rid of in the fireplace. For some reason yet to be determined, the flames spread to the rest of the house. The entire first floor and the roof went up in smoke.
The owner tackles the fire with a garden hose
Quickly alerted, many neighbors came to help this 92-year-old man who lives alone in his house. When the residents arrive, he is attacking the fire with a garden hose while flames are already coming out of the roof. He was able to get to safety and was not injured.
The resident of this house has been relocated to a bed and breakfast pending a lasting solution.
