For the second time in about ten days, a homeless person was found dead in Montreal, outside and in very cold weather.
The Corporation Urgences-santé confirms that a call transmitted Thursday to the 911 emergency telephone center led paramedics downtown to the bedside of a woman in her sixties.
When they arrived at the scene, near a entrance to the Berri-UQAM metro station, the rescuers found that the unfortunate woman was in cardiopulmonary arrest. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter and the body was taken to the morgue.
A supervisor at Urgences-santé, Sébastien Coulombe, reports that the homelessness of the lady was obvious. Multiple objects were found next to her and she is wearing several clothes in order to face the polar temperatures of the last few days as best as possible.
On January 10, a 74-year-old homeless man was found dead in very cold weather in a makeshift camp set up under an overpass in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district. The file of this tragedy has been submitted to the Coroner’s Office.
