Guy and Sylvie have sold their large suburban house, deserted by their two 20-year-old children. The darling couple from Plateau Mont-Royal moved back to Montreal, in a new condo, thinking they still knew the city and its codes. Mistake.

Still together, Guy and Sylvie live comfortably and Sylvie still runs (theoretically) the women’s magazine that bears her name. These two 60-year-old parents feel left behind by what their offspring are saying. And yes, the two lovebirds still tease each other as much.
“But there is a relaxation in their picking. We feel that there is an acceptance in their relationship, ”reveals Sylvie Léonard in an interview.
Guy A. Lepage continues: “It’s a couple who had children and who chose each other. They still love each other and they’ve lost the habit of just being the two of them together. They have moved away from the city and they come back as if they were coming from another country, ”he explains.
This is the starting point of the reboot – the famous reboot – cult comedy A boy a girl, the first four 30-minute episodes of which will land on Tou.TV’s Extra sometime in March 2023 (before Easter, I’m told). Radio-Canada will relay them later on its main antenna, on a date that has not been specified.
Other info that will delight the finished fans of this sitcom adapted in 31 countries: all the actors of the first version have agreed to return in this sequel. Martin Petit, Mahée Paiement, Pierre Lebeau, Louise Richer, Geneviève Brouillette, Daniel Brière and Élise Guilbault all said yes to Guy A. Lepage’s proposal.
Also, the visual invoice (scratch, animations, short sketches) and the way of making the episodes in sequence plan will evoke the original series, of course. “All the codes ofA guy, a girle will be there, but updated, ”notes the producer of this comedy, Mélanie Campeau, who is the wife of Guy A. Lepage.
Ultra-secret, the projectOne guy, one girl 2.0 has long been codenamed Silver wedding anniversary, to prevent leaks. This false title evoked the 25 years of the comedy which took the airwaves in May 1997, to leave them in March 2003, after seven seasons and 130 episodes.
Recently, Guy A. Lepage and Sylvie Léonard shot several outdoor scenes on Mont-Royal and Laurier avenues in Montreal. Obviously, several onlookers shouted at them: don’t tell me that you’re doing it again A boy a girl ? The two actors must have lied: no, no, we are recording an advertisement. Or: no, no, it’s a special capsule for the show Please do not send flowers by Patrice L’Ecuyer.
In the past 20 years, the idea of resurrecting Guy and Sylvie hasn’t really crossed Guy A. Lepage’s head. But when colleague Dominic Tardif contacted him last spring to talk about 25 years ofA boy a girl, something clicked. Guy A. Lepage then telephoned Sylvie Léonard, who set only one condition upon her return: “we had to be as good as when we stopped”, remembers Sylvie Léonard.
The one-hour specialA guy, a girle quickly transformed into four half-hours, which Guy A. Lepage laid out in three weeks. Radio-Canada is not ruling out the possibility of continuing the adventure over several seasons, if the public gets on board, of course.
I watched Guy A. Lepage and Sylvie Léonard at a press briefing and it’s true that they make an incredible pair. We believe in their couple, their friendship, their tenderness, their silliness, their complicity and their repartee, which has not weakened since this trip to Vietnam in 2003 where they adopted a little girl and where Sylvie announced to Guy that she was pregnant with a boy.
The numbers for the weekend
The weekend was particularly busy in event television. Time for post-match analysis.
So the “exclusive” interview that Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge granted to Stéphan Bureau on Friday evening boosted the ratings of the Upside-down world, which jumped to 636,000 viewers. This is an increase of 29% compared to the 493,000 followers who watched the first show.
Saturday night episodeLive from the universe broke the million mark with its 1,192,000 followers. This solid show, which celebrated the 90th birthday of the great Dominique Michel, was of exceptional quality and brought together huge names in showbiz. Patrice L’Ecuyer, Guylaine Tremblay, France Castel, Luc Dionne, Louise Portal, Marc Hervieux, Stéphane Rousseau, the parade of stars was reflected as much in Dodo’s eyes as on the stage.
Emotion soared several notches in France Beaudoin’s studio when Diane Juster introduced Ginette Reno, who redid I am just a song imperially. A highlight of this anniversary program with the rereading of This morning by Diane Juster, a friend of Dominique Michel who rarely sings on TV. Our dear Dodo, a national treasure, often had wet eyes.
Even Denise Filiatrault, failing to be physically present at this chic cabaret, sent a greeting card to her accomplice in Me and the other, with whom she has had a complicated relationship for several years. When will there be a public reconciliation of these two icons?
Sunday evening, the second episode of Masked singers (1,424,000) was the most popular show. Everybody talks about it (1,158,000) snuck past Revolution (1,014,000) and Double occupation (562,000).
It was good to see a full house at Everybody talks about it, which offered us a very sturdy, well-stocked episode. Now, who hasn’t paid their Hydro bill?
