An impact of gunfire was noted, Monday April 8, on the portal of the mosque of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche), a place of worship already targeted by threats and racist tags in recent months, reports , Tuesday, France Bleu Cotentin.

The bullet hole was discovered on the gate of the place of worship around 7 p.m. Two BAC crews, the anti-crime brigade, and a mobile patrol were mobilized to ensure the security of the site.

This discovery takes place the day before Eid El-Fitr, the celebration of the end of Ramadan. In November 2023, racist tags and death threats against the Arab community were discovered on the mosque gate. She had notably been tagged with the inscription “Death to the Bougnoule”. After this discovery, the mosque spokesperson declared that with this bullet impact, “we have reached a milestone” and that’“we can’t imagine that in Cherbourg”.
