A month after a ten-day preparation course in Bastia, Annick Hayraud, manager of Les Bleues unveiled her group on Monday March 14 to prepare for the opening of the Tournament against Italy, Sunday March 27 in Grenoble. Thirty-five players will therefore meet in Marcoussis on Thursday hoping to win the Tournament, which has eluded them since 2018.

And the manager has some surprises in store. Safi N’Diaye and Caroline Boujard, executives and yet present in Bastia, were dismissed. The two players were however part of the World Rugby team of the year unveiled in December. Gaëlle Hermet, captain, is very present, as are Caroline Drouin, Agathe Sochat, Annaëlle Deshaye, Laure Sansus, all four also in the XV of the year 2021. Pauline Bourdon will miss the start of the competition due to an injury with one hand.
“This selection of 35 players will prepare and play the first 3 matches of this 2022 Tournament”, said Annick Hayraud, who therefore reserves the right to change her plans along the way. With nine players selected, the Blagnac club will be the most represented ahead of Montpellier and Toulouse.
The French, third in the world ranking, remain on a superb autumn tour, marked by a success over South Africa (46-3), then two back-to-back victories over New Zealand, the reigning world champion (38-13 in Pau, then 29-7 in Castres). They therefore harbor great hopes at the dawn of a new Six Nations Tournament which they will finish on April 30 in Bayonne against the English, for what should be akin to a final.
