A 35-year-old Frenchman was fatally injured on the night of Friday December 22 to Saturday December 23, following a brawl in a nightclub in Luxembourg. A suspect was arrested and imprisoned, the Grand Duchy’s justice system reported on Sunday. The suspect, a 57-year-old security guard, was charged in particular with “intentional assault and battery resulting in death”, as part of the investigation entrusted to an investigating judge, said the Luxembourg public prosecutor’s office.
The events occurred on Saturday around 3 a.m. in a café-nightclub in Pétange, in the southwest of the country, not far from the Belgian and French borders. As a result of’“a confrontation” with this security agent, the victim is “fell to the ground, head first, and was seriously injured”. “Despite intensive medical care, the 35-year-old died shortly afterwards”continues the prosecution.
According to The Lorraine Republican, the victim was from Longuyon, in the French department of Meurthe-en-Moselle. He was celebrating the end of year holidays with colleagues and friends when the tragedy occurred.
