A former glory of Brazilian football tackles Neymar very severely after his pro-Bolsonaro position

Neymar is the subject of a wave of criticism in Brazil but also in part of the world. Collective indignation following his support for outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro yesterday, via a video on social networks. On Sunday, Brazil is called to vote for the presidential election. Bolsonaro, who is on a rather unfavorable runoff in the polls, of course received this support with a smile and he tweeted “Thank you, @neymarjr!”. Neymar who, it should be remembered, weighs on social networks with more than 250 million fans.

“Who supports this guy is equal to him”

This position of Neymar which encourages people to vote for the extreme right does not really pass with some. Walter Casagrande is a former international player (one of the initiators of the Corinthian Democracy), legend auriverde especially for his pro-democracy political commitment. He supports the left-wing ex-president Lula for this election. Asked by France Inter, Casagrande castigated Neymar:

It’s one of the most terrible things a football player can do. His speech is not perverse, but the man he supports is perverse. The man he supports is racist, homophobic, he put weapons in the street, he attacks women. And so despite everything, he has the cowardice to record a video of support. The little light that Neymar has here, the people who liked him, it’s over. Even if he offers a World Cup to Brazil, he will go down in history as support for a nefarious, lying president-candidate. Who supports this guy is equal to him, Neymar is the mirror of Jair Bolsonaro.

Neymar responds to his detractors

Earlier in the day, Neymar felt compelled to react to the wave of indignation. On Twitter, the PSG striker tries to talk about democracy and points the finger at those who criticize him for his position: “They talk about democracy and a lot of things, but when someone has a different opinion, they are attacked by the very people who talk about democracy. Go figure…”
