After days of tension, a curfew has been applied in Guadeloupe. A first night that went off without incident.
It’s a first night of calm for Guadeloupe, after days of chaos. Only the police were in the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre and other localities on the island. Established by the prefect of Guadeloupe and being applied between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m., the curfew was respected by the population. The sale of gasoline in jerry cans was also respected, in order to avoid the risk of arson.
For several days, the municipalities have been marked by the traces of conflicts, clashes, as well as by the damage caused to buildings. Roadblocks block access to certain roads for motorists, only emergency services are allowed to travel. A movement that will persist as long as the health pass is compulsory. For residents, the cause is understandable, but not the method.
