A firefighter calendar… daring or not!

The famous firefighter calendar has arrived with, in addition to the classic daring version, a special edition that pays tribute to emergency responders and essential workers, due to the pandemic. Alongside the firefighters, there is a nurse, a plastic surgeon, a police officer from the Sûreté du Québec and a paramedic.

This special edition of the calendar is less daring, as there are no shirtless firefighters. “For die-hards, a sexy version is available on the web. Our sexy firefighters are here, and we will come back to our classic edition next year, ”explains Marie-Josée Chalifour, communications project manager at the Fondation des pompiers du Québec (FPQ).

“We would like to thank all the emergency responders who have redoubled their efforts to deal with the pandemic. We didn’t want them to pose in a daring way, ”she says. The latter specifies that 15,000 calendars are sold each year. In the best years, it was 25,000 to 30,000 copies. ” It’s for a good cause. We’re the only foundation whose mission is to help people with serious burns, so that’s important. ”

For 22 years

The famous firefighter calendar has been around for 22 years. “It has become a tradition,” explains Marie-Josée Chalifour. The idea comes from the United States, where in some American fire departments, it is indicated at the hiring that you will have to make this schedule! “

The calendar, created by the Fondation des pompiers du Québec, serves as a fundraiser for burn victims. To date, $ 1,450,000 has been raised just from the sale of the calendar. Since the foundation’s creation, nearly $ 18 million has been donated to help victims and their families, as well as to support research and the purchase of specialized equipment.

The calendar is now available online and at Jean Coutu branches.
