The building was surrounded by thick black smoke Thursday morning, at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Ouest and Saint-Urbain streets.

The Montreal Fire Department went to the scene at 7 a.m., reporting a possible power outage in the area.

Expansion and renovation work has been underway in part of the TNM since the summer of 2021. The fire is believed to have originated in the part of the building under construction.

More details to come.
