In Allauch (Bouches-du-Rhône), a stream is dry and the vegetation is burned because of the heat, Monday July 11. The town is in drought crisis, the highest level of alert, which imposes water restrictions. It is, for example, forbidden to wash your car at home. Pools can be upgraded, but not completely filled. Watering plants is also prohibited. André Bremond, winegrower, is worried about his vines. “The vine, it suffers and it risks withering”he observes.
In the village, only 20 millimeters of water has fallen since May and the risk of fire is increased. “The level of drought is such that it is more than a month ahead of a normal summer period”, explains Lionel de Cala, mayor (LR) of Allauch. The fountains of the town are stopped and the fireworks of July 14 canceled.
