After a new assault in his office in the northern districts, a general practitioner from Marseille decided to settle in a collective structure. The 12/13 collected his testimony, Thursday, September 29.
“Do you feel safe here?“asks a patient Dr. Saïd Ouichou, general practitioner in the northern districts of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhone). “Not at all”she replies. “Me neither, so we’re going to leave the neighborhood”adds the doctor. He has indeed taken the decision to close his office in the 15th arrondissement of Marseille where he has been practicing for 15 years. This departure follows a violent attack on Tuesday, September 27.
The doctor recounts his assault: “He bangs on the door asking me: ‘give me my order now’. I explained to him that we have to wait, that there are people, and I don’t know why, he started shouting. Her boyfriend who was outside came back, he wanted to hit me. The patients intervened, and I ended up stopping the consultation and closing my practice following this incident”. It is not the first time that the doctor has suffered an incident of this type. He will continue to practice in the 15th arrondissement, but in a collective structure. He will close his practice at the end of October.
