Immigration: “A disconnection from the left-wing elites”, launches Jonas Haddad, LR regional advisor

The new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, wants a revision of the Constitution regarding immigration. Words that make left-wing elected officials jump.

The new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau has not changed his mind: he wants to organize a referendum on immigration. Judging that “immigration is not an opportunity”the minister estimated that “there would only be control over immigration if we have an overall plan”he declared on LCI. Words welcomed by his political family. “Today, immigration is not an opportunity. We see the devastation on our public accounts and on a certain number of security issues. It’s quite interesting that it caused such an outcry. Because even among socialist and France Insoumise sympathizers, everyone agrees with the fact that immigration as it is organized is not an opportunity. So we have a form of disconnection between the left elites and the socialist base”estimates Jonas Haddad, regional advisor for Les Républicains de Normandie.

On the left, the exit of Bruno Retailleau provoked strong reactions. “It’s the usual provocation. Immigration is a historical reality and everyone knows it. The question is why Mr. Retailleau is increasing the verbal escalation before Michel Barnier’s speech. We can clearly see the appeal side of the National gathering but also the arm of honor to the voters of the Republican front”deplores Emmanuel Maurel, Republican Left and socialist deputy from Val d’Oise.
