A new sequence of tension around the route of the Bordeaux-Toulouse LGV line took place on Saturday October 12, 2024. A gendarmerie vehicle was attacked by around fifty hooded demonstrators in the Lerm-et-Musset sector (Gironde), south of Bordeaux.

Hooded demonstrators attacked gendarmes who were trying to escape. Their vehicle being stuck in the mud, they ended up fleeing on foot. The attackers then damaged their van and stole equipment. These excesses took place during a demonstration against the future high-speed rail line between Toulouse and Bordeaux, which should allow residents of the pink city to get to Paris in a little over three hours, thus avoiding the plane .

In Lerm-et-Musset (Gironde), on the route, the demonstration was originally peaceful a few hours earlier. Nearly 1,000 people, according to the gendarmerie, gathered in this camp to denounce the project: “Here, we are fighting against the rail highway, which is this LGV which would cut the territory in two”expressed one of the participants. This evening, the prefecture’s objective is to prevent the installation of a zone to defend.
