Michel Barnier: a day under high surveillance for the Prime Minister
Michel Barnier was at the Stade de France on Sunday evening, September 8, for the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. During the day, he continued his consultations with a view to forming a new government. In particular, he received Édouard Philippe (Horizons) and then François Bayrou (MODEM).
As the Olympic truce finally draws to a close on Sunday evening, September 8, early this week, many eyes will be on the new Prime Minister, Michel Barnier. For the closing ceremony, he took a break at the Stade de France, coming to thank the volunteers, the emergency and security services in particular. He also took the opportunity to say a few words about his first days: “It’s very busy. I’m in an attitude of humility and (…) determination.“He also says he is ready for the task and is continuing his consultations to form his government.
Earlier in the day, he met for consultation with the Horizons group led by Édouard Philippe, followed by the president of the MODEM, François Bayrou, who joined the Prime Minister on the idea of forming a coalition in the centre and therefore without the RN or LFI. “The three major sensitivities must be represented and everyone must know that they are heard and that they are legitimate in playing their part in the recovery of the country.“
