By discovering this little dance-pop gem entitled A dark corner to dance, we are first struck by the confidence gained by singer-songwriter Naomi since her first album, released two years ago by Bravo Musique. So R&B at a time when R&B was still not recognized at ADISQ, it laid the foundations for a career to be pursued with the wind in its face; the sustained rhythms of house and dance that run through this second album (again co-produced by the versatile Gary Wide) propel her forward today. All of this is fresh, terribly catchy, imagined with taste and a clear passion for the dance floor. Past the house of the flow Crying on the dance floorNaomi invites singer Nissa Seych on a truly successful dancehall-inspired rhythm (First chance). In the second half of this too short album, Naomi convinces with Serious, a groove that we would have happily described as UK garage if only it hadn’t been so sparse in low frequencies. And Phenomenonwho follows? A bomb!
