Emmanuel Macron called for several changes to the Constitution on Wednesday October 4: in the field of the referendum, the use of the shared initiative referendum or even for better recognition of “all of our overseas territories”.

“The more revisions there are, the less chance there will be of success”insists the leader of the LR senators. “I think that the President of the Republic should only focus on article 11, that is to say power to the people, popular sovereignty, the expansion of the [champ du] referendum”he says. “Yes to enlargement, but we want this enlargement to be useful, effective”demands the elected official from Vendée.
“Emmanuel Macron cannot wander around for months, as he may be preparing to do, if he does not commit at the same time to holding a referendum, we suggest to him on immigration”he adds. “Let us say it clearly: extending the scope of the referendum cannot allow us to evade the rules of the rule of law”warned the Head of State on Wednesday October 4, with regard to LR and RN who want to use this referendum to free themselves from European law.
On this occasion, Emmanuel Macron also hoped on Wednesday October 4 that the inclusion in the Constitution of the right to abortion would succeed. “as soon as possible”. “I want this revision of the Constitution to be useful to France, useful to the French.
