A college professor placed in pre-trial detention after suspicion of sexual assault in Gard

A 44-year-old man, a teacher at Léo Larguier college, in La Grand-Combe (Gard), was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Thursday evening, France Bleu Gard Lozère reported on Friday April 12. He is suspected of having made advances at the beginning of April towards a student and of having caressed her.

The Alès public prosecutor decided to open a judicial investigation after two new similar testimonies, from two other teenage girls. For the latter, the facts date back to last fall. These two teenagers decided to testify in the middle of the week, after the media coverage of the affair, reports France Bleu. The three complainants are all 14 years old.

The teacher allegedly questioned all three about their intimate lives: “Do you have a boyfriend?”, “Have you ever had sex?”, “Are you a virgin?” ?” by SMS or after class. According to initial information, the events lasted for several weeks. Since then, one of the two complainants has left Léo Larguier college.

The teacher was arrested at his home three days ago and his home was searched. Investigators recovered his cell phone, but his computer was not found. The forty-year-old will be tried by the Alès criminal court on May 3.
