During this holiday season, the Montpellier associations do not forget people in very great precariousness. So that Christmas does not rhyme with loneliness, the “Solidarity Christmas” scheme has been renewed . In addition to the collection for the most disadvantaged organized from December 1 to 20, there is a meal at the Town Hall for New Years Eve on December 24.
An event organized in the hall of the town hall for people hosted by associations in the sector of the fight against great precariousness (Saint-Vincent de Paul, Entraide SDF, Les Camions du Coeur, Catholic relief …), coordinated in particular by the SIAO34 (Integrated Service of Reception and Orientation of the Hérault). A meal will be offered, accompanied by a distribution of gifts and activities offered by these associations. To ensure the restoration on the site of the Town hall and for the marauding carried out during this evening, these will prepare 600 hot meals, to which will be added 300 hot meals prepared and distributed by the City of Montpellier.
The program
- 7 p.m .: start of service, and distribution of soups outside for people who do not wish to enter
- 7:45 p.m .: distribution of gifts and start of activities with artists from the Humanitarian Association of Montpellier (AHM), DJettes Mixeuses Solidaires, singers (Gary Francq, Barbara Derathé, Lézia), a magician, and make-up workshops and of creative hobbies

Strict health protocol
Taking into account the health context, the protective measures have been reinforced: hydroalcoholic gel and protective masks (compulsory wearing) made available, physical distancing during service, rotation system for seats inside, tables limited to 6 place settings. The health pass is compulsory for volunteers but not for beneficiaries.
Everything is done to avoid creating a cluster, but it was difficult to cancel the event since we are addressing an audience that needs to eat. Christmas is a pretext, we are providing food aid. We cannot forbid people to eat
A telephone listening cell reachable on 04 67 34 70 00 will also be set up on December 24 and 31 from 4 p.m. to midnight, in partnership with the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Hérault (SDIS 34) and the SOS Amitié association. During the opening of this listening cell, volunteers trained in listening will respond from the Town Hall to calls from isolated people received via the toll-free number set up by the City.
