A child found in a swimming pool in critical condition on Île-Bizard

A two-year-old child is in critical condition after being found unconscious Tuesday evening in a swimming pool at a private residence in the borough of L’Île-Bizard-Sainte−Geneviève, in Montreal, said the Police Service of the City of Montreal (SPVM).

Around 6 p.m., a call was made to 9-1-1 regarding the accident which took place in the swimming pool of a residence in Place des Cageux, near Chemin du Bord-du-Lac. The child had already been pulled out of the pool and had been taken care of by the firefighters when the police arrived on the scene, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM.

He was taken to hospital, where his life is feared.

“A perimeter is still erected on Place des Cageux and investigators were on their way to analyze the scene and understand the circumstances surrounding this event,” said Mr. Brabant.
