Monday June 10, four men in a ram car smashed the window of a Chanel store on avenue Montaigne. They stole goods, then set the car on fire before fleeing in another vehicle.
In the prestigious avenue Montaigne (Paris), daylight is barely breaking, Monday June 10. Criminals have just set their vehicle on fire, after having thrown it against the gate of a Chanel boutique. The car-ramming heist only lasted three minutes, before the thugs fled in another vehicle. The commando’s car, loaded with luxury clothes and leather goods, fled the wrong way down Avenue Montaigne, with all lights out and at high speed.
They reached the Champs-Élysées. A police crew informed by radio chased them, before losing track of them as they left Paris. “The power of the car and the risks they took allowed them to escape”indicates Loïc Dessertenne, from the Alliance Police nationale de Paris union, who points out “a team of professionals”. The Paris prosecutor’s office, which has opened an investigation into organized theft, specifies that the amount of the loot is being evaluated.
