A driver had a narrow escape on Highway 20 in Montreal, since his vehicle became a total loss after suddenly catching fire at the end of the afternoon.
“Fortunately, there was only one person on board according to our information and the person was not injured. Subject to all reservations, the paramedics would not even have had to move”, confirms to the Log Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
A video posted on Facebook also shows quite striking images of the scene on Highway 20, very close to exit 60. We see the car completely ravaged by flames and a thick black cloud rising towards the sky.
Total loss
According to the SQ, a first call to 911 was made around 5:20 p.m. on this subject.
“We have very little information at the moment, but the vehicle would be a total loss,” said Sergeant Bilodeau. Around 7 p.m., traffic returned to normal in this area.
Note that this fire would not be of criminal origin. The SQ mentions for its part that it has not opened any investigation for this affair.
The Montreal Fire Department (SIM) had not responded to questions from the Journal when this text was published.
