(London) Barbie may not have had the honors at the Oscars, but she made a new friend: Queen Camilla, who received a doll in her image, 50 years younger, on Tuesday in London.
“You took 50 years off me… We should all have a Barbie,” joked the 75-year-old queen as she received this doll with blonde hair styled like hers, and dressed exactly like her on Tuesday: a French blue dress, a cape and black boots. With a few fewer wrinkles.
The gift was given to her after a reception organized at Buckingham Palace, celebrating the WOW (Women of the World) Foundation of which she is president, which works for gender equality.
Among the guests at this reception as part of the celebrations of International Women’s Day on March 8, the Queen of the Belgians, Mathilde, and the actress Helen Mirren, who is the narrator of the film barbie released last summer.
Helen Mirren, 78, also won the Oscar for best actress in 2007 for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in the film The Queen.
Last week, she received her own Mattel Barbie in her image, Oscar statuette in hand, also on the occasion of March 8. She said she was “completely blown away”.
