A boat overturned off the island of Noirmoutier and a 52-year-old woman died, France Bleu Loire Océan learned from the Vendée firefighters on Monday June 10. Three other occupants of the vessel were rescued.
Sunday afternoon, the firefighters were called around 5:25 p.m. for an intervention at sea. The crew was taking a trip to the sea on a small motor boat, off Midi Beach, near the town of Barbâtre on the the island of Noirmoutier, when the boat capsized. The circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
The 25 firefighters mobilized were able to recover two men aged 34 and 39, and a 61-year-old woman. They are all safe and sound. But the fourth occupant of the boat, a 52-year-old woman, died.
