A 51-year-old woman stabbed to death in Saint-Basile-le-Grand

A fourth woman was killed in Quebec in the last week, while a 51-year-old mother was allegedly stabbed to death by her partner, late Sunday evening, in a residence in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, in Montérégie .

The uneventful woman was allegedly attacked with a knife by her partner of recent years.

She reportedly suffered stab wounds to the neck and lost a lot of blood before emergency services arrived.

She was rushed to hospital, where she was unfortunately pronounced dead.

It was one of the victim’s children who contacted 911 for help. The 50-year-old’s two children, a teenager and a young adult woman, were inside the house on rue Ménard at the time of the murder. They were not injured.

The tragedy occurred in the heart of a seemingly very peaceful residential area.

The suspect in this sordid affair is 53 years old. He is not the father of the two children. He was arrested at the scene of the murder. He was charged with 2nd degree murder.

The man has no criminal history.

This is the fourth woman killed in the last week in the greater Montreal area.

Friday, Fabio Puglisi, 44, allegedly stabbed his mother and two neighbors who tried to intervene in a condo building in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The suspect’s mother, as well as one of the neighbors, aged 68 and 53 respectively, died during the savage attack.

Finally, last Monday, Jean-Guy Forest, 82 years old, allegedly stabbed his wife, Lorraine Marsolais, 80 years old, before taking his own life with a firearm, in a residence in Epiphany.

Since the start of 2024, there have already been four murders committed in a domestic context in the province.
