A gendarme was killed in a pile-up on the A13 motorway, Tuesday, October 25, in the early morning. He intervened, with his colleagues, on the immobilization of a go fast.

On the night of Monday 24 to Tuesday 25 October, an accident occurred on the A13 motorway. A policeman was killed. Seven wounded are also to be deplored, including three soldiers from the gendarmerie. The tragedy occurred in the Eure. Shortly before 3 am, the GIGN intercepts a go fast, a car suspected of transporting drugs from the north of France to Normandy. The two occupants are stopped at the emergency stop terminal. After the departure of the GIGN, the gendarmes of the research section of Rennes secure the place with a highway patrolman and a tow truck, when a truck arrives.

The truck, which would not have seen the operation in progress, would have struck the vehicles which were parked and the personnel who were on the side. In the collision, a 47-year-old warrant officer from Rennes and father of four children was killed. Another very seriously injured policeman had to be airlifted.
