a 43-year-old man shot dead in the middle of the street, an investigation opened for assassination

A 43-year-old man was shot dead on Wednesday, May 31, in the afternoon, on the public road in the Abbey district of Grenoble (Isère), reports France Bleu Isère.

The shooting took place in front of shops located on Avenue Jeanne d’Arc, around 3:30 p.m. According to the public prosecutor of Grenoble, Eric Vaillant, the 43-year-old man was hit by several bullets in the neck. The shooter, accompanied by an accomplice, was on a scooter. The two men, hooded, fled. Rescuers attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful.

“The victim is a priori identified but checks are in progress”, explains the Grenoble prosecutor’s office in a press release. The prosecution adds that an investigation for “assassination” has been opened. This investigation was entrusted to the Grenoble judicial police.
