From this Wednesday, July 27, we can expect new measures to limit the use of water in Sarthe, where the drought is increasing. The map of Propluvia which summarizes the different alert levels has turned red in a large part of the department, marked by a significant rainfall deficit since the start of 2022. Météo-France points out that all months, except for June, are below normal.
80% deficit in July
“Since the beginning of the year, we have a deficit of 43%“, explains Yannick Sécula, forecaster at Météo-France. “Almost all the months are in deficit, except for the month of June, which was in surplus. But the month of July is particularly dry, with an average in the department of only ten millimeters for a normal of 52 mm, which gives us a deficit of 80%. And there are places where only 3-4 millimeters fell“.
