Legs of fire, resistance from hell. That could sum up the final of the Danish rider of the Trek-Segafedo, Mads Pedersen. Victorious in Dun-le-Palestel (Creuse) on the third stage of Paris-Nice, the 2019 world champion hit hard and captivated everyone, Tuesday March 8, by dominating on a false rising flat Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) and especially Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), who could not hold the wheel of the winner.
Despite a fall in the last hectometres, Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma) keeps his yellow jersey which he will wear on Wednesday in the time trial.
From Vierzon, 191 kilometers awaited the runners towards Dun-le-Palestel. The start of the stage was marked by the breakaway of Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal), Owain Doull (EF-Education Easypost) and… Alexis Gougeard (B&B Hotels-KTM) once again. The Haut-Norman has his third consecutive breakaway in as many stages on the Race to the Sun.
In the last twenty kilometers there was also an intermediate sprint. After being led perfectly by his teammate from TotalEnergies Mathieu Burgaudeau, Pierre Latour was looking for three bonus seconds. The Drôme now finds himself 33 seconds behind the leader.
