A 26-year-old young man, from La Réole (Gironde), died on Saturday June 1 in Bordeaux, after receiving a punch the day before, reports France Bleu Gironde. He was initially declared brain dead around 4 a.m. A fight broke out with another man near the course of the Marne, after the victim offered him a sandwich. The suspect turned himself in directly to the police. He was taken into custody.

The police went to the scene around 11 p.m., when the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The young man was taken to hospital after emergency services managed to resuscitate him, but his life-threatening prognosis was in jeopardy. He finally died on Saturday morning, police confirm.

The young man had come to town with a friend for the evening. According to the first elements of the investigation, a fight broke out between the victim and another man, who punched him once in the face. An altercation started because the victim offered a sandwich to the man who hit him, according to the police. The two men did not know each other
