Fans of the Lord of the Rings saga will meet again in Middle-earth. The second season of the television series arising from the universe imagined by writer JRR Tolkien will be available from August 29 on Prime Video, the platform announced Tuesday, unveiling a trailer currently only available in English.
“All the souls of Middle-earth are in peril,” we hear, as the action scenes follow one another in the video.
This second season of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power will be marked by “the growing evil presence of Sauron”, indicates the broadcaster, in a press release.
Played by Charlie Vickers, the Dark Lord-in-the-making will appear in a new form to deceive his enemies.
Many characters from the first season will return, including Galadriel, Elrond, Prince Durin IV, Arondir and Celebrimbor.
Launched on September 2, 2022, season 1 was watched by more than 100 million people worldwide, including 25 million viewers on the first day of broadcast, becoming the biggest premiere in Prime Video’s short history.
Season 2 will launch simultaneously in over 240 countries and territories in different languages.
In total, five seasons are planned for this series, the action of which takes place thousands of years before the era of the film trilogy which marked the beginning of the 2000s.
