Friday morning, Ivanhoé Cambridge and the team of 9e officially unveiled to the media the Art Deco-style heritage space which has been very meticulously renovated over the past two years. Once at the top, visitors are greeted by this emblematic wall of round and square windows which will be decorated in accordance with the seasons and current events. Last week, during the visit of the Prime Minister of the French Republic, Gabriel Attal, the Roche Bobois and Christofle brands occupied the storefronts.

This space which is located at the entrance to the dining room will be a cocktail bar. Andrew Whibley, co-owner of the excellent Cloakroom and Bar Dominion, runs all things mixology at 9e.

What was once an underutilized space in 9e becomes the new dining room of the Île de France restaurant. The armchairs and benches are almost identical to the original ones and the old trolleys have been restored. All that’s missing are the tables and the diners!

An oval bar was added in the center of the dining room, under the large halo. Reproducing the original floors was one of the many major challenges of the renovations.

The Salon Or is one of the two private rooms of the Île de France restaurant. The walls are covered with gold leaf. The Argent Room can also accommodate around twenty people.

The Great Hall will of course be used for private events, but it will also welcome the public for concerts, brunches and guided tours with Héritage Montréal (in June), among others. “Our wish would be for the room to be used daily,” Andy Nulman (co-founder Just for Laughs), one of the entrepreneurs running 9, told us.ewith Jeff Baikowitz, Marco Gucciardi, Madeleine Kojakian and the 7 fingers collective.

Even the old sinks in the toilet rooms (here those of the women) have been restored. You will want to stop by, if only to admire the view of the city from its large and numerous windows.
