Australian police announced on Monday April 15 that a man was arrested after injuring several people in Wakeley, a suburb of Sydney (Australia). The victims, including an Orthodox bishop, suffer “non-life-threatening injuries”, police said. Paramedics told AFP that four people were injured. For their part, local media claim that this new attack occurred in a church. This assault comes only two days after the stabbing attack which left six people dead in the city on Saturday.

According to the Australian site Sky News, a man dressed in black repeatedly stabbed a bishop, who “was urgently transferred to hospital”. Questioned by Sky News, the mayor of the city, Franck Carbone, affirms that the bishop will be released after his hospitalization.

On Saturday, an assailant attacked passers-by with a knife in a crowded shopping center in the city, Australia’s economic capital, killing at least six people. “This was a horrific act of violence, indiscriminately targeting innocent people on an ordinary Saturday while they were out shopping.” said Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
