Today, during the solar eclipse, many scientists will be observing animals instead of observing the sky.
At the Granby Zoo, for example, 10 experts will study 12 different species throughout the day. This is because total eclipses are rare, and the behavior of animals when the sky turns black in broad daylight is not very well documented. However, some observations have been made over the years, indicating, for example, that certain nocturnal species will become more active during the day.
