New on the Montreal scene: En Stéréo, a trio made up of three young musicians each with their own solo approach — Gab Godon (ex-Heartstreets, head of the dance-pop project Laroie), electronic composers and DJ Gabriel Reichhold (Gabriel Rei ) and Jeanne Gariépy (Gene Tellem) —, offers a first EP of indie pop songs, in French and in grooves unstoppable. We expected nothing less from him. The text is light, the melody is there, but it is above all the general atmosphere of the project which seduces, the trio revisiting the grooves downtempo of fashion ” lounge » from the 1990s — think of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Tosca, Röyksopp, that cool era when house was enjoyed at low bpm. Gab Godon has the right tone and silky voice to suggest the subdued atmosphere of their musical universe which cannot be compared to anyone else on the current music scene. On these five original songs, favorite for the last two, the rolling percussions of Panorama and the almost electro-funk touch of Winter Memories.
