On the morning of Wednesday April 3, the island of Taiwan experienced its worst earthquake in 25 years, measured at more than 7 on the Richter scale. On the roads, vehicles swayed due to the shaking and metro passengers crouched down to avoid falling. The earthquake was violently felt in the capital, Taipei. A French student in Taiwan only suffered some material damage, but still can’t believe it.
The rubble is searched by emergency services
The quake’s epicenter was near the eastern city of Hualien. With the earthquake, a building sank several meters into the ground. Emergency services continue to search through the rubble. A few streets away, a little girl came out of a collapsed building. According to a provisional report, the earthquake caused nine deaths, including several in landslides, and more than 800 injured.
