Pope Francis must preside over the Easter Vigil on Saturday March 30. But the day before, he decided not to attend Good Friday mass. His state of health is worrying, even though he has significantly reduced his travel over the past two years.

Very surrounded, with a weak voice, Pope Francis is present, Saturday March 30, to preside over the Easter vigil in front of thousands of faithful. The day before, his state of health raised new concerns. Just minutes before the start of the Good Friday mass, Vatican teams hastily removed his seat and announced that the pope was canceling his visit. The Catholics who came to listen to him on Saturday hope to see him continue his pontificate. “Pope Francis still has years ahead of him, and we hope that it is he who will celebrate mass this evening”says a woman.

The Pope does not plan to give up

In the corridors of the Vatican, more and more people are thinking about his succession. The Argentine Jesuit has already warned that he does not intend to give up, unless he no longer has the cognitive abilities. For two years, the Pope has only used a wheelchair and has had to restrict his movements. His last trip abroad dates back to last summer, when he went to Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).
