A mother and her two children were hit by a motorist in the Côte-Saint-Paul district on Thursday afternoon. Montreal police have opened an investigation into the matter.
The initial events occurred around 4:20 p.m., at the corner of Boulevard de La Vérendrye and Rue Jolicoeur, very close to the metro station of the same name, on the green line.
According to officer Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), one of the two children – a baby who was in the stroller at the time of the collision – was seriously injured in the head. head.
The mother also suffered serious injuries. The second child was also injured during the impact, but less seriously.
All the victims were rushed to a hospital and “were conscious” when they were transferred by ambulance, continued M.me Dubuc, who could not at this stage give further details on the nature of the injuries.
Also transported to hospital, the driver of the vehicle was traveling west, on Boulevard de La Vérendrye, when the collision occurred. He should be met by SPVM investigators in the coming hours to determine whether charges will be brought against him in this case.
Note that a vast security perimeter has been erected in the area. Boulevard de La Vérendrye was closed between rue Jolicoeur and avenue Galt, for several hundred meters.
