Obesity has just exceeded an alarming threshold. More than a billion people are now obese worldwide, or one in eight. According to an international study, in just 32 years, the obesity rate has doubled among adults. It even quadrupled among children and adolescents. The disease mainly affects women. In 2022, 504 million of them were obese, compared to 374 million men. But it is among the latter that the trend is progressing the fastest. Men are three times more obese than in 1990.
Obesity has declined in France
This development can be explained in particular by a change in consumption habits. Fresh and local products are gradually being replaced by processed food from abroad. France, however, is a good student. Obesity has declined slightly over the last 30 years.
