The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, requested the withdrawal of the residence permit of imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi, who officiates in Gard, after the latter described the tricolor flag as a “satanic flag”.
Mahjoub Mahjoubi, Tunisian imam, is in Gérald Darmanin’s sights. It was reported by the prefect of Gard this week after anti-France sermons. “We will no longer have all these tricolor flags which plague us, which give us headaches, which have no value with Allah. The only value they have is a satanic value”he declared in particular.
44 people expelled in 2023
On the social networkthe Minister of the Interior announced sanctions against him on the evening of Sunday February 18. “I requested the withdrawal of his residence permit with a view to his expulsion from the territory. No call for hatred will go unanswered”, he writes. According to Gérald Darmanin, the number of expulsions of individuals deemed dangerous linked to radical Islam increased by 26% in 2023 compared to the previous year. In total, 44 foreigners were deported.
