9,000 users of the CISSS de Laval affected by a data leak

Some 9,000 users of the CISSS de Laval are affected by a data leak linked to a cyberattack at the firm Segma Recherche, which was conducting a survey for the health establishment. According to the CISSS, the patients concerned consulted the Cité-de-la-Santé hospital, the René-Laennec mental health outpatient center or a CLSC between 1er July 2022 and December 31, 2022.

In a press release issued Wednesday, the CISSS de Laval indicated that it had been informed by Segma Recherche that “lists of users” had been the subject of a cybersecurity incident, which resulted in a leak of personal data.

“Personal information may include first names, last names, telephone numbers, reasons for consultation, services obtained, date of service provision and file number of users affected by this cyberattack,” lists the health establishment in its press release.

According to the CISSS de Laval, Segma Recherche has “repaired the flaw that led to this leak”. The health establishment claims to have declared the incident to the Commission d’access à l’information du Québec. He invites the population to be vigilant and to contact the police service if they have “doubts about a call received” or if they suspect “they have been a victim of fraud”.

The CISSS says it takes “the situation very seriously” and is “aware” that it “could cause concern”. “The security and protection of our patients’ personal data are a priority for us,” we assure.
