senators “request the publication of the report kept secret by the government”

“We demand the publication of the Igas report [Inspection générale des affaires sociales]kept secret by the government on the illegal purification of water by industrialists”write in a press release on Wednesday January 31 the senators of the Socialist, Ecologist and Republican (SER) group, after the publication of the investigation by the investigation unit of Radio France and the newspaper The world.

According to this investigation, Nestlé and other manufacturers hid from the public that the water they pumped was contaminated. To continue bottling it, they used banned purification systems. The Radio France investigation unit and the newspaper The world also reveal that the government was aware of the affair since August 2021. Journalists were able to consult a confidential administrative report from the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs, submitted in complete confidentiality to the government in July 2022. “These practices are clearly not in compliance with the public health code”we can read in particular in the Igas report.

“The senators of the SER group denounce this health scandal and the guilty silence of the government”, they write in their press release. The group sent a letter to the Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity, Catherine Vautrin, so that this Igas report “be transmitted to the national representation and made public” because the “French people must be informed about this major public health issue.”
