It’s hard to imagine a worse scenario in front of its fans… The United States defeated the Swedes 6-2 on Friday in the final of the World Junior Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden.
It’s number 6e American gold medal at this tournament. Issac Howard stood out with two goals for the champions. Gabriel Perreault, Zeev Buium, Ryan Leonard and Rutger McGroarty (empty net) also scored. Goaltender Trey Augustine deserved the victory.
The match, however, ended in tumult, with a few scuffles, stick blows, and mocking gestures towards a visibly disappointed crowd.
More details to come.
