COVID-19: 9,206 new cases in Quebec

Quebec recorded 9,206 new cases of COVID-19 and four additional deaths linked to the virus for Christmas day.

458 people are hospitalized due to their COVID-19 infection, a drop of 31 from the previous day.

Nearly 89 people are also in intensive care, a decrease of four from Friday.

Nunavut also announced 10 additional infections on Saturday, the day after the government announced an immediate lockdown to limit the spread of the virus.

“With the outbreak of COVID-19 in several communities over the past week, we need to put in place the most stringent public health restrictions across the country,” Dr. Patterson, an administrator, said on Friday. Nunavut Chief Public Health Officer (CPHA).

All non-essential businesses have been closed, while indoor gatherings have been banned. Anyone who enters the country without their three doses of vaccine must also self-isolate for 14 days.
