Four Montrealers charged with car theft in Ottawa

Four Montrealers were arrested and charged on Friday for the attempted theft of a vehicle the day before in the New Edinburg neighborhood of Ottawa.

Aged 23 to 32, Quebecers have been charged with attempted theft of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit a criminal offense, unlawful possession of an automobile master key, possession of a device for computer services and burglary tools, and for prowling other people’s property at night, Ottawa police said.

The facts took place on December 23 at around 1:15 a.m., when the four suspects were arrested by authorities after a call reporting the theft of a Lexus RX brand car.

One of the suspects has also been charged with the attempted theft of another Lexus, which this time took place last November in the Glebe district.

The 23-year-old was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, after the other individuals had been released on recognizance to appear at a later date.
