What a voice ! As soon as she left the conservatory, the mezzo Marianne Crebassa attracted the attention of the greatest chefs and authorities. The colors that we hear there, from a 34-year-old singer, are quite astonishing, and we will not fail to quote this recital example which reveals to us the capacities and the register of Marianne Crebassa as a model in relation to at Enargeia (DG, and 1er CD in addition!) Which says nothing of the lyrical profile and the potential of the great Canadian mezzo Emily D’Angelo. Spain, the theme of Marianne Crebassa’s disc, is present as a repertoire (Falla, Guridi and Mompou) or a setting for French operas by Bizet, Massenet, Saint-Saëns, Ravel… Marianne Crebassa approaches this repertoire with the class of ‘a Teresa Berganza: the warmth of her tone gives her a sensuality that she does not need to over-exert on the expressive level. The recital is accompanied by Ben Glassberg and the Orchester de Toulouse and Alphonse Cemin on the piano in touching melodies by Guridi, a great, discreet moment on the record.
