“The village in the sea”, Félix Girard

The rising water levels and the intensity of the rains, direct consequences of the climatic catastrophe, threaten the island where Philibert lives, protagonist of Félix Girard’s most recent album, The village in the sea. Each spring flood, major floods damage his beloved home, a legacy from his grandparents. In order to save it, he requires the help of a giant, inhabitant of a neighboring island, who loads the house on his back with the mission of finding a place for him to continue his existence. Philibert and the giant will tour the world, asking a fundamental question: what is the best place to live, if not with people you love? In this story which pulls the strings of an overflowing imagination, the journey is first and foremost visual. Drawing on a palette of abundant and nuanced colors, Félix Girard’s line evokes the dreaminess of the tale, in which characters imbued with touching humanism are incarnated. An album to be preserved from rising waters.
